Hester
Ormiston
is a registered social worker with a background in social
care spanning 30 years, including assistant director
posts in Manchester and Derbyshire. She has had
strategic responsibility for all service user group
operational services, and financial, planning and
support services. Hester worked for six years in the
Social Service Inspectorate, where she completed service
inspections and more specialist work with Voluntary
Adoption Agencies, Voluntary Children’s Homes and
Local Authority Secure Units. She contributed to the
development of the NSFs for adults with mental health
problems and older people and to the Valuing People
programme. Hester has particular skills in bringing
organisations together to work in partnership, as
evidenced by her experience in work for CSIP and facilitation
of workshops to develop outcome based work. Hester
has experience working as a volunteer committee member
for her local Age Concern.
Pamela
Shelton is a registered social worker who has worked
for over 30 years in
social
care, in both the voluntary and public sector. She
has experience with all service user groups but has
specialised in children’s work. As Assistant Director,
she had operational responsibility for all of
children’s services, including youth justice and under
eights. Pamela
has undertaken inspections of children’s services and
chaired Serious Case Reviews. She has particular skills
in service evaluation, quality assurance, performance
management and mentoring. She has the ability to analyse
complex information and present it in an accessible
format for a range of audiences. She
contributed to the development of national standards and
a code of practice for foster carers, and has taken a
special interest in developing services for children
with disabilities. Pamela
has experience working as a volunteer and established a
voluntary organisation to provide family based respite
for disabled children. She is currently a school
governor.
Shirley
Williams
is a registered social worker and has over 30 years
experience in social care including at assistant and
acting director level. Shirley has up to date knowledge
in all aspects of Social Services management, with
particular knowledge and skills in all areas of service
to adults.
She
has experience of joint commissioning and integrated
service delivery with Health, including a period as an
interim head of service in 2005. She has good
communication skills and excellent presentational skills
in formal and informal settings. She has expertise in
transformational leadership and managing change, project
management (PRINCE 2) and commissioning, as well as
coaching and mentoring individuals and groups. She has
managed budgets and has a track record of working in
partnership to achieve win-win solutions. Shirley
has been a volunteer at committee and hands on level in
a number of organisations.
